Laminate Flooring

Through recent years laminate flooring has become one of the more popular choices when it comes to flooring. Which makes sense when looking at the pros and cons that this flooring type offers. In order to help you find out whether or not this type of flooring will fit your lifestyle, we’ll take you through some of the pros and cons of laminate flooring.

Advantages

Laminate holds some advantages over a real wooden floor. One of the main advantages it holds is its ability to maintain and hold its’ colour. Sunlight will not damage a laminate floor, which is a key component and one of the reasons laminate flooring does so well in most homes.

Another reason why laminate is so popular is that it is available in a wide variety of colours and styles. You can go for the wooden look, but it is also possible to go for tiles for example. All these various styles are possible in all kinds of different tints and colours and therefore make laminate flooring incredibly customizable.

Besides the previous facts the maintenance of a laminate floor is also one of its’ important advantages. The maintenance of a laminate floor is relatively easy compared to other floors and doesn’t take up a lot of time. Due to the composition of the material it doesn’t hold a lot of dust, making it a good choice for people with allergies.

Disadvantages

If a laminate floor has one main disadvantage, it’s the fact that the lifetime of a laminate floor doesn’t compare to a real wooden floor. Laminate is made up of different layers and unlike real wood you cant sandpaper the top layer and re-do the floor. This is something to keep in mind when purchasing a laminate floor.

It’s also important to keep in mind that while a laminate floor may look like an authentic wooden floor, it doesn’t feel that way. Most laminate floors feel harder than a wooden floor.

Other than that the floor can be cold to the touch, which some people consider a major disadvantage in winter especially.
